Muehlhan Surface Protection Inc. expands its North American presence with strategic acquisition of Tri-State Painting LLC (TSI) in the U.S.
Muehlhan Surface Protection Inc. – the US holding company of the European market leader in surface protection and coating solutions in the Industrial Services Division – announced today that it has acquired Tri-State Painting LLC (TSI).
TSI provides industrial and infrastructure painting, metalizing, and coating services, primarily to end-user Federal and State agencies and departments, industrial facility owners/operators, Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) facilities, the U.S. Coast Guard, wind farm installations, and private & public shipyards.
The company began as a family business in 1978 under the trade name Tri-State Painting Contractors Co. Initially, operations were a small father and son team, with the brothers Gary and Richard Pescinski operating the business from their father’s retirement in around 1990. In 2020, they stepped back and handed over the operations to Paul Blake (current COO) supported by Gerry Rancourt, an industry expert.
Although the primary geographic territory of TSI is the New England area, the company has (due to its reputation, accreditations, network and access to skilled labor) completed projects across the United States of America. The variety of projects underlines the company’s broad capabilities and experience of both the management and workforce.
In 2023, TSI was awarded the Excellence in Construction ® Award (the nation’s most innovative and high-quality construction projects and world-class safety, inclusion, diversity and merit programs) for the Grand Avenue Swing Bridge project. TSI provided the full surface preparation and painting services for the rehabilitation of this bridge in New Haven, CT, as well as the staging and containment to allow access to every part of the bridge.
TSI is an AMPP QP-1, QP-2, QP-6, and QS-1 Certified Company.
