Corrosion protection of aluminium in marine environments
Because of its high strength/weight ratio, aluminium has a high potential for lightweight maritime constructions. There is, however, not sufficient information available with respect to the performance under corrosive loads. The project marinAL covers the following topics:
- Development of cathodic protection methods for aluminium.
- Protection of bolted connections between aluminium and other materials.
- Coating solutions for aluminium in seawater.
- Development of alternative, ecologically safe surface preparation methods.
